Het 3D lab Groningen, onderdeel van het UMCG, maakt gebruik van geavanceerde 3D-technologieën om procedures en behandelingen veiliger, sneller en nauwkeuriger te maken. Het lab is gericht op verschillende specialismen zoals Mond-, Kaak- en Aangezichtschirurgie, Trauma chirurgie, Orthopedie en Neurochirurgie. Het gepassioneerde team van Technisch Geneeskundigen en Design Specialisten werkt dagelijks aan innovatieve oplossingen die de kwaliteit van zorg verbeteren. Het 3D lab Groningen heeft in 2024 als eerste 3D lab in Nederland een ISO 13485 certificaat behaald, waarmee het zijn toewijding aan hoogwaardige zorg en medische innovatie onderstreept.

Mondziekten, Kaak- en Aangezichts chirurgie

In het vakgebied van de Mondziekten, Kaak- en Aangezichtschirurgie (MKA-chirurgie) wordt veel gebruik gemaakt van 3D virtuele planning en daarbij horende technologie. Het gebruik van deze 3D technologie zorgt voor veiligere, snellere en meer accurate procedures en behandelingen. Tevens kan door de behandelaar 3D technologie worden ingezet om samen met de patiënt tot de beste keuzes te komen in een behandeling. Het UMCG 3D lab is vanuit de MKA-chirurgie geïnitieerd en het is dan ook dit specialisme dat de grootste bijdrage levert aan de continue doorontwikkeling van de technologie en veilige toepassing ervan. test

Neurochirurgie

Binnen de neurochirurgie wordt gebruik gemaakt van 3D virtuele operatieplanning en patiënt specifieke 3D-geprinte mallen voor verschillende behandelingen. Het plaatsen van schroeven bij het vastzetten van de wervelkolom vormt de belangrijkste patiëntengroep waarbij 3D technologie wordt ingezet. Ook het corrigeren van ernstige wervelkolom scheefstand en reconstructies van schedeldak defecten behoren tot de ingrepen waarbij 3D technologie en 3D printen bijdraagt aan veiligere en accuratere procedures.

Traumachirurgie

In de traumachirurgie worden veel complexe letsels behandeld. Door gebruik te maken van 3D beeldvorming kunnen we deze letsels beter in beeld brengen en hiermee het inzicht in het letsel vergroten. Daarnaast is het mogelijk om een chirurgische planning te maken en hulpstukken 3D te printen om deze uit te voeren.

Orthopedie

In de orthopedie wordt veel gebruik gemaakt van 3D planning en de daarbij horende 3D geprinte hulpmiddelen. Hiertoe behoren corrigerende operaties van de wervelkolom (scoliose en/of kyfose), waarbij schroeven zorgvuldig in 3D worden gepland. Daarnaast wordt 3D technologie ingezet bij het vervaardigen van patiënt specifieke heup- of knie spacers, bij standscorrecties van een been of arm, of bij oncologische ingrepen. 

3D Design

Voor tal van ingrepen binnen uiteenlopende disciplines, is het beschikken over een 3D virtuele planning niet afdoende om tot het gewenste resultaat te komen, en zullen fysieke medische hulpmiddelen moeten worden toegepast. Het 3D lab beschikt over technieken, software en kennis om naast virtuele planningen ook patiënt-specifieke hulpmiddelen te ontwikkelen, variërend van boor- en zaagmallen tot patiënt-specifieke implantaten en protheses.
